advice
The bp conservation programme aims to provide general support as well as funding to student-led conservation projects world-wide. This advice section aims to help students identify a project, plan, apply for funding and lead it successfully.
The Bird Surveying Techniques manual, produced with BirdLife International, is the first guide we have made available. This is an invaluable manual for anyone planning a bird surveying expedition.
In addition, we have advice on applying for research permits and writing up your report to be published.
The Conservation Project Manual, printed in March 2003, is the result of a long-term collaborative
effort between the Programme, it's partners and the RSPB, the BirdLife partner in the UK. It is
aimed at helping people to develop a project idea through all it's stages, from planning, fundraising
and implementation, through to monitoring, evaluation and appraisal.
The Links section has lots of relevant links, including sites to help identify the threat status of species to those that offer alternative funding.
We hope to keep adding to the resources available here, providing information for project planners on a wide range of topics. We welcome your suggestions as to what you would find useful to have on this page. The programme staff can also be contacted for any other help and advice. email to clp@birdlife.org.uk
